(Los Angeles, CA) July 10, 2015—Juan Sotelo, former Vice President of Business Development with global merchant service provider, Payscout, has been promoted to the position of Chief Operating Officer. Sotelo’s promotion comes on the heels of a steady increase in growth for the company, named by Inc. In addition to Sotelo’s executive team appointment, Payscout will also be moving its corporate headquarters to a larger building this July to accommodate anticipated growth.

Sotelo’s experience and skills in global sales management, global operations management and business development made him an ideal candidate to manage the growing operational dynamics of the global merchant services provider. “Sotelo is experienced in sales, process and policy development, education and consulting services, as well as product development, all of which are skills he will draw from to successfully fulfill his expanded role at Payscout,” said Cleveland Brown, Payscout chief executive officer and founder.

Sotelo joined Payscout in 2013, and in the following two year period, has been influential in carrying out the company’s growth initiatives, internal process development and strategic brand advancements. Prior to working for Payscout, Sotelo co-founded and served as the managing partner of JD & Associates. In addition to his duties at Payscout, Sotelo serves as the president and managing partner of the award-winning production company, Film Antics. Sotelo holds a BA in Political Science with an emphasis in American Politics from UCLA.

As the new Payscout COO, Sotelo’s duties will include:

  • Inspiring, mentoring, and building the best team, in order to ensure all employees are aligned with the company’s goals, mission and cultural attributes;
  • Utilizing resources in the most productive fashion to create maximum value during Payscout’s dramatic growth rate;
  • Elevating the Payscout brand and thought leadership in the global payments industry;
  • Optimizing and driving Payscout’s performance measures.

As part of his role as COO, Sotelo will also manage sales, operations, support, strategy, marketing, legal, HR, risk and underwriting, and PR for Payscout.

“In the past two years, Juan has proven himself a vibrant Payscout leader while serving in his former role as vice president of business development,” continued Brown. “He has consistently demonstrated commitment, and a personal approach which reflects Payscout’s cultural attributes, both of which confirm he will surely be a remarkable COO for the company.”

Payscout helps merchants with business models considered to be high-risk in the payments industry. Those requiring special help in payment processing solutions are accommodated without adding exorbitant costs or slowing down the transaction process. Payscout enables high-risk merchants to cut through the red tape by providing them with secure, affordable and efficient merchant accounts to ensure they can grow and progress in the marketplace without point-of-sale challenges.

“eCommerce is a swiftly-growing industry, which is becoming more and more globalized as young entrepreneurs are entering the market with refreshed vision and global purpose,” said Sotelo, “I am confident we are on track to continue the rapid growth trend Payscout has been experiencing and well positioned to help this new generation of merchants navigate the demands of the industry and the global landscape.”
